Hey friend, I’m Katie Vollmer, founder of Beauty & the Beach.

I’m a licensed esthetician, makeup artist, hairstylist, wife, mom, and someone who genuinely loves helping women feel confident, comfortable, and naturally beautiful. I started this business in 2005 with one goal. To serve women on some of the most meaningful days of their lives and make the entire experience feel calm and enjoyable.
I was raised in San Juan Capistrano and grew up spending time between home and the coast in San Clemente. That mix of warmth, simplicity, and easy living shaped the way I see beauty. I’ve always been drawn to looks that feel soft, polished, and effortless. Fresh skin, relaxed glam, hair that feels like you. Nothing heavy. Nothing overwhelming. Just elevated, natural beauty that lets your features shine.
On a personal note, my family is my heart. I’ve been married to Mick for more than twenty years, and we love doing life together with our kids, Kaylin and Micah. Some of our favorite moments are at the beach, soaking up a slow sunset or sneaking in a family surf session. Those are the days that remind me why I love what I do. They ground me.
I also have a lifelong love for horses and recently found my way back into riding. There’s something about the mix of strength, calm, and connection that feels a lot like the way I approach beauty and the way I approach serving women.
My faith is another big part of who I am. I love Jesus and I love people. Whether it looks like offering encouragement, praying with a bride if she asks, or simply showing up with peace and intention, I carry that into my work quietly and wholeheartedly.
Beauty & the Beach has grown into a team of artists who share that same heart. We’re warm, professional, dependable, and steady on a wedding morning. We specialize in glowing skin, soft glam, and relaxed hairstyles, and we bring a calm presence that makes the whole experience enjoyable from start to finish.

Having perfect hair and make-up for my wedding was an absolute must, and thanks to Katie it happened! Katie and her team were amazing to work with! Katie listened to everything I wanted, even my weird request for no eyeshadow, and I was so happy that on my wedding day, I felt beautiful. My inspiration was Brigitte Bardot and Katie clearly got it! As you know, trusting someone with hair and make-up on your wedding is a big task, and trusting Katie and her talent made it that much less stressful! I also had extensions and really wanted to make sure they blended perfectly with my hair and it stayed perfect throughout the entire night-even through the dancing! I booked Mariah to do my bridal hair and makeup also my 5 bridesmaids and mom. The outcome was amazing! She showed up on time with another girl who was also very talented and super friendly. Katie did a BEAUTIFUL job for my and my bridesmaids' hair & makeup. I needed 9 hair, 3 makeup, and hair&makeup for the bride and they did everything super fast and everyone looked amazing!! I got so many compliments on my updo (beautiful bun on the side with braids). I loved how natural she made my makeup look. Airbrush covered all blemishes on my face and made me look like my skin was super soft and healthy. Thank you for allowing me to feel so beautiful on my wedding day! Katie and her team were amazing artists! They are hard workers and set a super fun vibe for the wedding too. Katie is so kind and makes everyone around her feel comfortable. I had great reviews from my 4 bridesmaids, mom, and MIL. I absolutely LOVED my hair and makeup. The trial was super smooth and she listened to my requests. The day-of look turned out even better than I expected! Katie made me feel so beautiful and really took her time.

This team also provided a great value. I did a lot of research and their prices are great for their top-notch services. From the moment they arrive, they are working hard and making sure everyone looks and feels beautiful for the big day. They did last minute touch ups before they left and they provided me (the bride) with a little to go bag to touch up my makeup and make sure I'm set for the day.
